The Rudiments Of First Aid Training

Robert Harrison, a Westerly Hospital physician for 32 years, says successful intervention is possible and more likely to occur with proper training. Harrison has been a certified instructor in Youth Mental Health First Aid, a program of the National Council for Behavioral Health, since early 2016. Since then he has helped train about 170 staff members in the Westerly schools. Superintendent Roy Seitsinger Jr. has asked that all employees receive the training within the next three years. Klamath Community College is now offering a Wildland Fire Academy that will qualify job seekers for careers in wildland firefighting, according to a news release. The KCC Wildland Fire Academy begins May 9 and runs for two weeks. Students who complete the academy will be ready to seek work with wildland firefighting agencies and private contractors. Wildland firefighting agencies operate at federal, state and local levels. There have been applications from people who have attended summer school, but none has led to a successful offer. As in previous years, Bristol Old Vics 2017 summer courses include acting in contemporary drama and acting in Shakespeare plays. LAMDA, like many drama schools, also offers a wide range of courses. Occasionally one of the participants goes on to full-time training there. Simply Food Safety Training

The Division of Corrections announced Wednesday it is helping fund crisis intervention teams focused on de-escalating incidents involving inmates with mental illness. The division will use money from a National Institute of Corrections grant, which it applied for last year. An initial class of correctional officers will receive 40 hours of intensive training on the signs of mental illness and de-escalation procedures.
